Corinne Goldman, DVM, DACVIM (internal medicine)

Host of The Cairn: Marking the Trail for Veterinarians

I’m your co-host, Corinne Goldman, DVM, MS, DACVIM (SAIM). Hailing from the picturesque state of Maryland, I laid the foundation for my veterinary career at Virginia Tech, where I earned both my undergraduate degree and my DVM. My fervor for internal medicine led me to my internship at Carolina Veterinary Specialists and residency in small animal internal medicine at Purdue University. It was during this time that my passion for nephrology and urology blossomed. My professional journey then led me to South Carolina, where I started my private practice career at South Carolina Veterinary Specialists and Emergency care in Columbia. Here I brought my knowledge and expertise in minimally invasive endourology to the midlands, pioneering non-surgical modalities for managing urologic disorders in dogs and cats. My path has changed in the last two years, exploring new horizons in teleconsulting and relief internist work, gaining a fresh perspective on the challenges and opportunities in veterinary medicine. Currently, my passion project is establishing an internal medicine specialty practice in Columbia, SC, where I plan to take a unique approach to comprehensive care. Beyond clinical practice, I’ve served as Chair of the Residency Training Program for Small Animal Internal Medicine for the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM), two terms as president of the Greater Columbia Association and Veterinarians, and remain an active member of South Carolina Association of Veterinarians and the AVMA.

Outside the realm of veterinary medicine, I find solace and joy in various outdoor activities. Whether it’s golf and basking in the low-country breezes on Seabrook island, hiking the Upstate, or savoring the local food, art, and music in the Midlands, time spent with friends and family are my favorite pastimes. There’s a daring dream of an Appalachian Trail thru-hike on the horizon, and I extend an open invitation to all fellow veterinary enthusiasts to join me on this incredible journey.
